It took me a few tries to get the cake exactly how I wanted it. I played around with using melted chocolate for the chocolate portion of the cake batter. It is definitely the best marble cake ever and everyone came back for a second slice. So much for my plan to freeze half of it! This recipe replaced the traditional molasses and spice batter by marbling melted chocolate into the cake, a reflection of a new American obsession with chocolate.
